Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co. Ltd. (STEC) this week commissioned Sudarshan 4.3 – their 3rd of four tunnel boring machines to construct the 82.15 km Delhi – Meerut RRTS project’s twin tunnels.

This 7.5m diameter earth pressure balance (EPB) machine arrived at Anand Vihar RRTS Station in March from Shanghai, China. Workers then began lowering parts of the machine in April at the northern TBM Launch Shaft.

Sudarshan 4.3 and later Sudarshan 4.4 will build 2.093 km tunnels between Anand Vihar Station’s northern TBM Launch Shaft (chainage 12813.41) to Sahibabad UP Ramp (chainage 14907.00).

STEC was awarded a contentious contract for the project’s 5.6 km Package 4 in December 2020 to build four tunnels between New Ashok Nagar DN Ramp – Anand Vihar – Sahibabad UP Ramp.

Their TBMs Sudarshan 4.1 and 4.2 machines started tunneling in February and March southwards towards Khichripur TBM Retrieval Shaft located at chainage 9317.405. I’m trying to ascertain both machine’s progress right now and will update this section when I hear something.
