Egis Rail S.A. on Monday was declared as the only bidder for the Detailed Design Consultant contract GGNCCDD-01 of Gurgaon Metro’s 28.5 km line connecting HUDA City Centre and Cyber City.

This elevated new corridor will form a ring line through Gurugram and Old Gurugram via 27 stations. Haryana Government’s cabinet had approved the project’s final Detailed Project Report (DPR) in August 2020 at an estimated cost of Rs. 6821.13 crore.

Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Ltd (HMRTC) invited tenders for this consultancy contract in June 2022 with a Rs. 17.68 crore estimate and 1440 days (3.94 years) deadline.

Brief Scope: Detail Design Consultant DDC for Civil Architectural and E and M works of Elevated Section 28 KM 500 m having 27 Stations Main Corridor from HUDA City Centre to Cyber City Gurgaon of Gurgaon Metro Project and also inclusive of Depot connection

If HMRTC is not satisfied with 1 bid, then this package will head to a retender. If they are, then Egis’s bid will be sent for technical evaluation which will take a couple months or so to complete. If Egis qualifies, which they easily should, then their financial bid will be opened to see if their bid is within a certain range of the budgeted estimate for a contract to be awarded.

The official DPR has still not been shared with the public, so details about the line’s funding sources/split, depot location, construction suggestion (U-girder or segmental box girder), and train operational plan etc. still remain unknown.

The line will pass right by the under construction Dwarka Expressway in New Gurgaon which is planned to be inaugurated in December 2022. Besides an interchange with the Delhi Metro’s Yellow Line and Gurgaon’s Rapid Metro, it will likely have an interchange with the 106 km Delhi – SNB RRTS line at Udyog Vihar.
