Cengrs Begins Gurugram Metro HUDA – Cyber City Line’s Geotechnical Work

[ad_1]

Cengrs Goetechnica on Wednesday started geotechnical soil investigation work for Gurgaon Metro‘s new 28.50 km ring line which will connect HUDA (Millennium) City Centre with DLF Cybercity.

This entirely elevated line with 27 stations in new & old Gurugram was approved for construction by the Indian Government’s Union Cabinet in June 2023. The project will be executed by the newly formed Gurugram Metro Rail Ltd. (GMRL).

Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Limited (HMRTC) had awarded Cengrs with the line’s first of two geotechnical investigation contracts in February 2024 with a 112 day deadline.

The scope of Cengrs’ Rs. 53.90 lakh contract includes drilling 130 boreholes, collecting samples, and analyzing the soil’s profile along the line’s 12.76 km alignment between Millennium City Centre to Sector 9.

The results from Cengrs’ investigation will be included within the civil construction tender documents to help infrastructure companies make more informed financial bids and use appropriate machinery, methods & technology during construction.

The project’s 26.65 km main-line will connect Millennium City Centre and Cybercity via 26 stations, while a small 1.85 km spur will connect Basai Village to Dwarka Expressway with 1 station to provide connectivity to the depot.

Earlier this week, HMRTC received just one bid for the line’s Detailed Design Consultant (DDC) contract from SYSTRA MVA Consulting India. It remains to be seen of HMRTC is satisfied or not, but either way the chances of civil construction staring in 2024 are now slim given the time required to prepare detailed designs and to conduct the bidding process for civil construction.
