[ad_1]

Siemens Ltd. on Monday emerged as the lowest bidder for commissioning the 750 V DC Third Rail electrification system of Surat Metro Phase 1 project.

The city’s 40.35 km Phase 1 consists of two lines with 37 stations. Financial bids for the final civil packages were opened last summer, with Line-1’s 11.6 km Dream City Depot – Kadarsha ni Nal section taken up on priority. Following that, all tendering activity moved to the systems side.

Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) had invited tenders for this major systems contract, financed by Agence française de développement (AFD), in February 2022 with an unknown estimate and deadline. Technical bids were opened in May 2022 to reveal 7 bidders.

GMRC’s budgeted estimate remains unknown to me, so I can’t provide an assessment on the chances of a contract getting awarded. We’ll have to wait and watch to see how this plays out.
