5 Bidders for Hyderabad Metro Airport Line’s General Consultant Work

Five consortia have submitted pre-qualification applications for the General Consultant contract of Hyderabad Metro’s Airport Express Line which will connect Mindspace Junction with Rajiv Gandhi International Airport via 10 stations.

This 32 km semi-high speed rail line of Hyderabad Metro Phase 2 project will be funded by Telangana Government and executed by HAML (Hyderabad Airport Metro Ltd). Its foundation stone was laid by Telangana’s Chief Minister on December 9, 2022.

Hyderabad Airport Metro Ltd. (HAML) had invited expression of interest (EOI cum RfQ) on December 1, 2022. They expect the assigned consultant to be onboard for 36 months and speedily implement this line through assistance in design, supervision, safety, quality control and contract management.

All 5 applications will now be evaluated. Consortia that qualify will in the coming months be issued Request for Proposal (RfP) documents to participate in the next round of the bidding process.

This mostly elevated line along the Outer Ring Road (ORR) will run 2.5 km underground at the airport within Hyderabad Aerocity. It is expected to cover the distance from Gachibowli in the city to RGIA in 20 minutes with trains operating at a maximum speed of 120 kmph.

Some of the stations on the line include Mindspace Junction, Bio-Diversity Junction, Nanakramguda, Narsingi, Manchirevula, TS Police Academy, Rajendranagar, Shamshabad, Airport Cargo station and RGIA Terminal.

Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd. (HMRL) recently appointed 2 survey teams to expedite pre-construction activities for the line. Its MD tweeted that the operational Blue Line will be extended from Raidurg to Mindspace Junction, roughly a kilometer, in order for an interchange to be constructed with the bottom 2 levels reserved for the new Airport Express Line and the top 2 levels for the Blue Line.
