[ad_1]

Hindustan Construction Company – URC Construction (HCC – URC) JV last week celebrated launching the final segment for 19.14 km Bangalore Metro Yellow Line’s 6.34 km Package-3.

This elevated section of the 73.92 km Bangalore Metro Phase 2 project‘s Reach-5 on Marenahalli Road connects the Green Line’s RV Road Station with the upcoming HSR Layout Station on Hosur Road.

It consists of a 3.2 km double-decker viaduct between Ragigudda – Central Silkboard where 7.5m wide cantilever wings have been stitched to form a 4 lane road. The first central spine span was completed in July 2019 and launching of cantilever wings began in November 2019 – images can be viewed here.

HCC-URCC launched a total of 1197 segments for the elevated road and 2083 segments for the rail line’s viaduct using 4 launching gantry (LG) cranes and mobile cranes.

HCC-URCC JV was awarded a Rs. 797.29 cr crore contract for Package 3’s civil construction (viaduct & station) in June 2017 by BMRCL with a 36 month deadline. Their scope includes 5 new stations at RV Road, Ragigudda, Jayadeva Hospital, BTM Layout and Central Silk Board.

With this development, segment launching is complete for the entire 19.14 km Yellow Line connecting RV Road – Bommasandra. The final segment for Package 2 was launched by ITD Cementation on Hosur Road in April 2021.

The start of operations on Package 3 will be the last to commence which I see happening no sooner than mid-2024 at this time.
