KEC JV Wins Ahmedabad Metro Phase 2’s Track Work Contract

Per an industry source, VNC – KEC – Emrail JV in June was declared as the lowest bidder to supply and install standard gauge rails for the Ahmedabad Metro Phase 2 project.

This new 28.254 km phase will see Ahmedabad’s north-south Red Line getting extended by 22.838 km from Motera Stadium to Mahatma Mandir via 20 new stations with a 5.416 km spur from GNLU to GIFT City which includes 2 new stations.

Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) had invited tenders for this systems contract in January 2022 financed by Agence Française de Développement (AFD) with an unknown estimate.

I don’t have bid values for all qualified bidders at this time, but hear Larsen & Toubro (L&T) was the 2nd lowest bidder. If someone has bid values, then leave a comment below or shoot me a message via the Contact page. I’d like to add it in here for record keeping.

Scope: Design, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Ballastless track from Motera to Mahatma Mandir and GNLU to GIFT City in elevated section including connecting lines to Depot along with ballasted/ ballastless / embedded standard gauge track, Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project, Phase II

Currently 2 out of 3 civil packages of the Phase 2 project are under construction with both contractors commencing U-girder launching activity in Q4 2021:
