Tata Wins Jewar Noida Airport’s Construction Contract

[ad_1]

Tata Projects Ltd. (TPL) this week emerged as the lowest bidder among 3 firms for the civil construction work of Noida International Airport at Jewar, Uttar Pradesh.

Phase 1 of Noida Airport, located south-east of Delhi, envisions a 90,000 Sqm Terminal 1 building, 4150m x 45m Code ‘E’ runway (Runway 10/28) fully supported by CAT III approach lighting and visual aids, parallel end to end taxiway, Air Traffic Control (ATC) building, cargo facility and commercial developments.

Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL) had initiated its tendering process (e-RFQ) in April 2021 through two EPC contracts: Package-1 related to the terminal building’s construction and Package-2 for airside, landside and associated works.

Technical bids were opened in March 2022 to reveal 3 bidders – Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Tata Projects (TPL) and Shapoorji Pallonji (SP).

If someone has financial bid/price values, then leave a comment below or shoot me a message via the Contact page. I’d like to add it in here for record keeping.

The airport’s terminal has been designed by Haptic Architects, Nordic, Grimshaw and STUP. More design renderings can be viewed here.

Per NIAL’s CEO, back in April construction of 9 out of 17 km of boundary wall around 1,335 hectares of land had been completed with ground leveling underway.

If awarded, this will be Tata’s second major terminal contract. Back in 2018, they completed constructing Prayagraj Airport’s new terminal in 11 months just in time to handle pilgrims for Kumbh Mela.

Coming back to Jewar, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is currently preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a new metro line between Greater Noida’s Knowledge Park II and Noida Airport. Geotechnical investigation was wrapped up in February – see images & project info.

A 30 km expressway to Noida Airport will be constructed from the Delhi – Mumbai Expressway’s DND – Ballabhgarh section. Technical bids are currently scheduled to be opened by NHAI on May 19, so stay tuned for a list of bidders!

Noida Airport’s project details, master plan and a list of entities involved can be viewed here.
