3 Bidders for Chennai Metro Phase 2’s Telecom Contract ASA07

[ad_1]

3 firms have bid for supplying Chennai Metro line 3 and 5’s telecommunication radio system (Package ASA-07) after Chennai Metro Rail Ltd. (CMRL) opened technical bids last week.

Both these under construction lines of Chennai Metro’s 118.9 km Phase 2 project will run in a north-south orientation to connect Madhavaram – SIPCOT (45.813 km Line-3) and Madhavaram – Sholinganallur (47 km Line-5) with a mix of elevated & underground stations.

CMRL had invited tenders for significant systems contract, financed by JICA, in October 2021 with an unknown estimate and 2470 day (6.7 year) completion deadline.

Bidders

  • Consort Digital Pvt. Ltd.
  • HFCL Ltd.
  • Vedavaag Systems Ltd.

Brief Scope: Design, Manufacture, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Telecommunication Radio System.

All bids have now been sent for technical bid evaluation which can take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely supplier.

Things on the tendering side – both civil & systems – are moving along nicely although with some hiccups along the way. Last week CMRL received zero bids for its 210 coach contract. Bid opening for both line’s underground stations (6 packages: UG-01 to UG-06) was originally scheduled to open in April, then pushed to May, and is currently scheduled at different dates strewn around in June.
