Indore Metro’s Geotechnical Work Underway for Packages 2 & 3
In North Indore, a massive geotechnical investigation exercise has been silently underway since December 2021 for constructing Indore Metro Phase 1’s Packages IN-02 and IN-03.
A host of geotechnical contractors with 45 rigs have been employed to perform standard penetration tests (SPT) for approximately 550 boreholes by Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL), URC Construction (subcontractor) and STUP Consultants to revalidate previous findings to aid in construction design.
The list includes Sai Geotechnical Engineers with 12 rigs, Cengrs Geotechnica with another 12 rigs, Techpro Engineers with 13 rigs, C. E. Testing Company, and M.K. Soil Testing Laboratory.

RVNL was awarded a Rs. 382 crore contract in September 2021 for constructing Package IN-02 with 7 elevated stations at ISBT/MR10 Flyover, Chandragupta Square, Hira Nagar, Bapat Square, Meghdoot Garden, Vijay Nagar Square & Radisson Square. Construction work for its viaduct is underway by Dilip Buildcon.

Also in September 2021, RVNL was awarded a Rs. 1034 crore contract for Package IN-03’s work with a 10.927 km viaduct between MR10 Road – Gandhi Nagar on ‘Super Corridor’.
Their scope also includes work for 9 elevated stations at Gandhi Nagar, Super Corridor 6, Super Corridor 5, Super Corridor 4, Super Corridor 3, Super Corridor 2 and Super Corridor 1, Bhawarsala Square and MR 10 Road. Scope also includes constructing a roughly 575m depot-line.
