Nagpur Metro Phase 2’s Tenders Invited for Construction Work

MahaMetro has in the past week published two notices inviting bids for constructing Reach 1A and Reach 4A of the 43.8 km Nagpur Metro’s Phase 2 project.

This new phase’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) was approved by the Public Investment Board (PIB) in March with an estimated cost of approximately Rs. 6700 crore, but is still awaiting the Central Government’s cabinet approval.

18.7 km Reach 1A will extend the operational Orange Line from Khapri to MIDC Butibori ESR via 10 stations through Jamtha, Dongargaon, Mohgaon, Butibori, MHADA colony, Indorama Colony. Bids have been invited for roughly half of its route’s construction.

Scope: Design and Construction of elevated metro viaduct of length 9.550 km ch. 19970 m to ch. 20700 m & ch. 21296.917 m to ch. 30117.298 m in reach 1a, construction of embankment for at-grade section of length 1.017 km (ch. 19550 m to ch. 19970 m & ch. 20700 m to ch. 21296.917 m), fabrication and launching of superstructure of railway span of length 70 m and construction of five metro stations (four elevated and one at-grade) in Reach-1A of NMRP Phase-2 of Maharashtra (view notice)

  • Deadline: 30 months
  • Estimated Cost: Rs. 470.30 crore
  • Bid Submission Deadline: August 31 at 4:00 PM
  • Technical Bid Opening: August 31 at 4:30 PM

4.856 km Reach 4A will extend the under construction Aqua Line from Prajapati Nagar to Transport Nagar via 3 stations through the neighborhoods of Ambe Nagar, Kapsi, Transport Nagar and Asoli.

Scope: Design and construction of elevated Metro viaduct of length 4.856 km between ch (-)580 mtr to ch (-)5,436.085 mtr reach 4A and construction of three elevated Metro stations in Reach-4A of NMRP Phase-2 of Maharashtra (view notice)

  • Deadline: 30 months
  • Estimated Cost: Rs. 246.17 crore
  • Bid Submission Deadline: August 31 at 4:00 PM
  • Technical Bid Opening: August 31 at 5:30 PM

As you might have noticed – station names haven’t been published in either notices. I haven’t seen MahaMetro announcing them via their social media channels either.

Back in July 2020, a consortium of AECOM – Systra MVA Consulting – Consulting Engineers Group (AECOM – SYSTRA – CEG) JV was the only bidder for MahaMetro’s General Consultant contract for various projects in the pipeline. I’m not entirely sure if a contract was awarded or not.
