L&T Wins Patna Metro’s Underground Work PC-03

[ad_1]

Larsen & Toubro today emerged as the lowest bidder to construct the only underground section of Patna Metro’s 14.05 km Line-2 after Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) opened financial bids for package PC-03.

This 8 km section of the Patna Metro Phase 1 project will connect a ramp near Rajendra Nagar with Patna Junction Railway Station through TBM bored twin tunnels and 6 underground stations. It’s the second and final civil package of Line-2 after Package PC-01 which is under construction by NCC.

DMRC had invited tenders for PC-03 in September 2020 with an estimate of Rs 1958.81 crore and 42 month deadline. Technical bids were opened in January to reveal 4 bidders – all of whom qualified through the technical round.

Financial Bid Values:

Firm Bid (Rs crore)
L&T 1989.00
Afcons Infra 2044.80
ITD Cementation 2098.79
Tata Projects – CAI JV 2122.31

Package: PC-03

Brief Scope: Design and Construction of Twin Tunnel by Shield TBM, Tunnel by Cut & Cover, Underground Ramp at Rajendra Nagar and Six Underground metro stations viz. Rajendra Nagar, Moin Ul Haq Stadium, University, PMCH, Gandhi Maidan & Akashvani with Entry/Exits & Connecting subway including Architectural Finishing, Water Supply, Sanitary Installation & Drainage works on New ISBT to Patna Station of corridor-2 of Phase-I of Patna MRTS.

The project has faced funding issues, which is why it took so long for financial bids to be opened. L&T’s bid was just 1.5% higher than DMRC’s estimate, which is bang on target, and a contract for PC-03’s construction should be awarded in the coming weeks. I expect basic ground work (site preparation) to begin in Q4.

I hear Financial bids for Package PC-04 (8 km, 7 stations) on Line-1 have also been opened, so stay tuned to find out its winner. That package received 4 bids back in November 2020. Update: YFC Projects is the lowest bidder – see details here.
