HG Infra Engineering and Krishna Constructions on Friday each won one package of the 74.98 km Delhi Urban Extension Road (UER) II project after National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) opened financial bids.

This greenfield access-controlled road’s construction has been divided into 5 packages. In Phase 1, it will form a 38.111 km semi-ring (NH-344M) around Delhi’s western edge and also consist of two spurs (NH-344P) to Bahadurgarh Bypass (7.269 km) and to Barwasni Bypass in Sonipat (29.60 km).

NHAI invited bids for all 5 packages in December 2019 – each with a 2 year construction deadline. The first 3 packages are related to the main UER-2 expressway, Package 4 to Sonipat Spur and Package 5 to Bahadurgarh Spur.

Technical bids were opened in early June for all 5 packages to reveal 32 firms had submitted a total of 78 bids.

The lowest bids were well below NHAI’s budgeted estimate, so contracts for both packages should be awarded in the coming weeks.

A 7.5 km section of UER 2’s Package 3 (shown in red above) is currently under construction by J Kumar Infraprojects as part of Dwarka Expressway’s packages 1 and 2.

I hear technical bid evaluation was completed on June 8 for Package 4 (Sonipat Spur) and Package 5 (Bahadurgarh Spur), so its financial bids should be opened within the next 10 days or so.

Design details and a list of all packages of this expressway can be viewed here.
