This past week saw major milestones being recorded for Mumbai Metro’s 24.9 km Line-5 (Orange Line) and 82.15 km Delhi – Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Line.
RRTS Package 3 Lot 2
In Uttar Pradesh’s Mohiuddinpur town, Larsen & Toubro on Thursday completed casting their first pier cap in-situ (on-site) for the RRTS project’s Package 3 Lot-2. The feat was accomplished at the 7m tall pier P1054.
Lot-2 with a total of 615 piers connects Modinagar North Station with Shatabdi Nagar Station through 5 elevated stations at Modinagar North, Meerut South, Partapur, Rithani & Shatabdi Nagar. Out of these, Partapur and Rithani stations will serve as stops on Meerut Metro.

Mumbai Metro Line-5
In the early morning hours of Friday, Afcons Infrastructure’s subcontractor Tara Chand Logistics launched their 1st pier cap for Package CA-28 at pier P38 Near Balkum Naka Metro Station in Thane.
The team in February had started casting piers in Thane for this 12.811 km western section of Line-5 which will connect Kapurbawadi with Dhamankar Naka in Bhiwandi. The 7 seven stations en route will be built at Kapurbawadi, Balkum Naka, Kalher, Purna, Anjurphata, and Dhamankar Naka.

Afcons’ team had started casting 28m U-girders for Line-5’s viaduct in December.
