Ahluwalia Wins Mumbai CSMT Railway Station Redevelopment Project

[ad_1]

Ahluwalia Contracts was today declared as the lowest bidder among 4 firms to redevelop Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Maharashtra.

This project by India’s Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) involves transforming the facility’s piece-meal annexe developments made at different times in the last 70 years. No major changes will be made to the station’s gothic-style heritage building.

RLDA had invited tenders for the project in October 2022 with a 3 year completion deadline. Technical bids were opened on March 15 to reveal 4 bidders.

Financial Bid Values

Firm Bid (Rs. Crore)
Ahluwalia Contracts 2450
NCC 3667
Afcons Infrastructure 3910
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) 4141

Brief Scope: Re-development of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) Station and Construction of Associated Infrastructure on Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) Mode

The project’s budgeted estimate remains unconfirmed to me, but is reportedly Rs. 1800 crore which would make Ahluwalia’s bid 36.11% higher. In that case, this will head towards the negotiation table for contract finalization which can take a couple months of back and forth. If that fails, then RLDA will have to revise their estimate and re-invite bids.

Last week, L&T was declared as the lowest bidder for New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS), and this Monday Afcons was declared as the lowest bidder for Ahmedabad Junction Railway Station.
