Bihar’s Chief Minister on Thursday officially inaugurated construction work on the 30.91 km Patna Metro Phase 1 project’s 7.2 km underground section connecting Rajendra Nagar – Patna Junction Railway Station.

After building a guide-wall over the past few weeks, Larsen & Toubro’s team lowered the first reinforced cage to form the diaphragm wall (D-wall) for Moin Ul Haq Stadium Station on civil package PC-03.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had awarded L&T with package PC-03’s Rs. 1989 crore contract in December 2021 with a 42 month deadline.

This section of the 14.05 km Line-2 will connect a ramp near Rajendra Nagar with Patna Junction Railway Station through TBM bored twin tunnels and 6 underground stations at Akashvani (formerly Dak Bungalow), Gandhi Maidan, PMCH, Patna University, Moin Ul Haq Stadium, Rajendra Nagar.

Larsen & Toubro will be deploying a total of 4 tunnel boring machines – 2 new machines from CRCHI and 2 refurbished machines from THI (S71 & S72) previously used for Ahmedabad Metro Phase 1’s tunneling where a final breakthrough was recorded in August 2020.

The first CRCHI TBM (DZ1090) recently passed factory acceptance tests (see details) and I hear the other machine (DZ1091) has passed them too.
