[ad_1]

Siemens Ltd. on Wednesday emerged as the lowest bidder for the OHE electrification contract of Chennai Metro’s 26.09 km Line-4 which will connect Light House – Poonamallee Bypass through 30 stations.

The scope of this Chennai Metro Phase 2 system contract includes design & installation work at the 16 km elevated section (Poonamallee Bypass – Power House Ramp), 10 km underground section (Power House Ramp – Light House), and also inside Poonamallee Depot where the line’s 26 trains will be maintained.

CMRL invited tenders for it in August 2021 with a 1600 day (4.4 year) completion deadline and an unknown estimate. Technical bids were opened in February to reveal 7 bidders.

Like other Phase 2 packages, CMRL’s estimate for this is unknown, so I can’t provide an assessment on how Siemens’ bid is placed and what the next steps look like.

So far only 1 systems contract for Line-4 has been awarded. That was to IRCON International for its end-to-end track work. Alstom last month was the lowest bidder for its 78 coach contract but a LOA is yet to be issued.
