KEC International – CCECC JV this week celebrated completion of the 7.3 km Package 1’s viaduct for the 82.15 km Delhi–Meerut RRTS project.

The team launched the final 10.5 meter wide precast segment near the RRTS’ open web girder steel bridge over the Indian Railways’ line at Ghaziabad. This important milestone marks the completion of the last 34m span for the Sahibabad – Ghaziabad section of the 17 km Priority Corridor (Sahibabad – Duhai).

Construction on this semi high-speed rail line’s 17 km Priority Corridor is being carried out in two packages – Package 1 between Sahibabad Ramp to Ghaziabad and Package 2 between Ghaziabad to Duhai.

KEC-CCECC JV was awarded Package 1’s Rs. 579.76 crore civil contract by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) in August 2019. Their scope of work includes building a 7.3 km viaduct, from the Sahibabad Ramp (located east of Anand Vihar Station) to Ghaziabad Station, with two elevated stations at Sahibabad and Ghaziabad.

The first segment was launched in July 2020 using a launching gantry nicknamed Tarini 1.1 between piers P31 – P32 near Sahibabad Station.

The first Alstom train-set is expected to arrive at Duhai Depot in early May and NCRTC hopes to start trial runs by the end of the year. That of course depends on the completion of Package 2’s viaduct by APCO – CRFG JV, station and systems work along the way.
