Afcons Casts Ahmedabad Metro Phase 2 C1’s 1st Pile Cap
Workers from Afcons Infrastructure on Monday night poured concrete to cast their first pile cap near Narmada Canal for Ahmedabad Metro’s 28.254 km Phase 2 project.
The first pile cap (number P3/24) lies on the Tapovan to Narmada Canal stretch, and Afcons plans to eventually cast 499 pile caps to support the superstructure of Phase 2’s 14.36 km Package C1 which was awarded by GMRC in December 2020.
Afcons’ scope includes the line’s 8.124 km elevated section from Motera Stadium to GNLU with 8 stations at Koteshwar Road, Vishwakarma College, Tapovan Circle, Narmada Canal, Koba Circle, Juna Koba, Koba Gam, and GNLU.
It also includes the 5.42 km section from GNLU to GIFT City with a bridge over Sabarmati River and 2 stations at Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) and Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City).
Ranjit Buildcon working on Package C2 (GNLU to Gandhinagar’s Sector-1) moved on to the pier casting stage back in April.
Here are some snaps of Afcons’ 1st pile cap. Pier casting works are planned to begin towards the end of June.
Meanwhile, TPL-CCECC JV working on a section of Phase 1 continues to make steady progress on Line-1’s 298.20m Sabarmati River Bridge between Old High Court and Shahpur. Launching of segments for its 1st span was completed in April, and as of this weekend the team had completed 4 spans (166.8m) with 3 more to go.
