Sterling & Wilson Begins Mumbai Metro Line-2A’s OHE Work

[ad_1]

Sterling and Wilson this week began installing 25 kV overhead equipment (OHE) wires for traction at the elevated viaduct of Mumbai Metro’s 18.6 km Line-2A (Yellow Line) which will connect Dahisar East and DN Nagar.

OHE work within the line’s Charkop Depot is already complete, and now work has started at a roughly 6 km section of civil package AC-01 between Kandivali West (Mahavir Nagar) and Kandarpada (Rushi Sankul) stations.

Sterling and Wilson was awarded Line-2A’s OHE contract (package AE-02R1) in July 2019 with a contract value of Rs 168.08 crore after they beat Siemens and Ircon International. Their scope of work also includes commissioning 33 kV auxiliary power supply and the SCADA system (view snap) for both the line and depot.

Here are some images shared by the MMRDA affiliated Mumbai 2.0 handle on Twitter. The depot-line to main-line connection is still pending, so the road-cum-rail vehicle (RRV) was lifted on to the viaduct at Eksar by Sunder Cranes on February 7.

As shared earlier – MMRDA is publicly chasing a May 2021 deadline, but internally likely has a different target date later in the year. There’s just far too much civil (especially at Dahanukarwadi next to the depot), system and finishing works pending throughout. More on that here.
