L&T Casts Delhi Metro Silver Line Chhatarpur Station’s Base Slab

[ad_1]

Larsen & Toubro on late Sunday night poured concrete to cast the first base slab for Chhatarpur Station of Delhi Metro’s 23.622 km Silver Line which will connect Aerocity – Tughalakabad via 16 stations.

The team had officially launched construction work on 5.68 km underground Package DC-09 at the same site in August 2022. This underground station with a base slab approximately 20 meter deep will be connected to the operational Yellow Line’s elevated Chhatarpur Station to allow for easy transfers.

L&T was awarded 65.1 km Delhi Metro Phase 4 project’s Package DC-09’s contract in March 2022 valued at Rs. 1428 crore with a 42 month deadline.

Their 6.51 km section, with twin-tunnels smack-dab in the middle of the Silver Line, will connect Kishangarh Station (chainage 5356.285) with a cut and cover ramp (chainage 11867.000) west of Saket G Block Station. It includes 4 stations at Chhattarpur (interchange with Yellow Line), Chhattarpur Mandir, IGNOU and Neb Sarai.

I hear Larsen & Toubro will be deploying 4 tunnel boring machines, instead of 5 mandated by DMRC, all sourced from China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Corporation (CRCHI).

Confirmation is still awaited, but these will likely be the ones from Bangalore Metro’s Phase 2 – TBMs DZ669 (Avni), DZ670 (Urja), DZ671 (Vindhya) and DZ672 (Lavi). If that’s the plan, they’ll either carry new or no nicknames as is typically the case in Delhi.
