KCC Buildcon Ltd. today emerged as the lowest bidder for constructing the 267.77 km Bangalore – Chennai Expressway Phase 1’s Package 3 after National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) opened financial bids.

This section between Bangarpet and Bethamangala is 17.50 km long and lies entirely within Karnataka. NHAI invited bids for it in December 2020 with a completion period / deadline of 730 days (2 years). Technical bids were opened on February 9 to reveal 14 bidders.

Here are the financial bid values of the lowest 5 technically-qualified bidders:

NHAI’s estimate: Rs 691.14 crore

Firm Bid
KCC Rs. 809.50 crore
Megha Engineering Rs. 816.43 crore
Rithwik Rs. 819 crore
PSK Infra Rs. 819.17 crore
PNC Rs. 829.29 crore

Contract: Phase 1 Package 3

Dilip Buildcon was today issued two LOA’s for the Hoskote to Malur (Package 1) and Malur to Bangarpet (Package 2) section of Phase 1 despite their bids for each being about 15% higher than NHAI’s estimate. This indicates that KCC should receive a LOA as well barring any extraneous issues that may arise during financial bid evaluation.

As a reminder – the entire project has been divided up into 3 phases with a total of 10 sections / packages between Bangalore and Sriperumbudur near Chennai. With today’s development, financial bids for 7 packages have been opened and contracts for at least 2 of those have been awarded.

A list of all packages and their status can be viewed here.
